On Sunday February 11th, Hilary Kear gave a talk at the London Alternative Market mini event near Brands Hatch.
It was on alternative ceremonies (weddings, naming ceremonies and funerals). This is a mainly LGBTQ+ event so Hilary was discussing legal requirements and restrictions, and how to navigate complex family relationships with possible family disputes.
Hilary talked about topics such as making a Will and estate and planning ahead with funeral plans.
Hilary said: “Much of the talk was on more light-hearted topics such as the various commemorative options for cremated remains jewellery, tattoos etc.
It was well-received; people said they found it interesting, and a few spoke of considering a funeral plan in the future.”
